of the Belmont a full second faster than did Secretariat?

Of course it's true that it takes two halves to make a whole, and I believe that AP's love of running out front would have gotten him Shammed against the greatest of all thoroughbreds, but I think AP proved by his closing 3/4 of a mile that he must be acknowledged as a great horse... Probably one of the greatest.

I think he is capable of more is stride is so efficient looking.

Secretariat was not even being urged by his rider down the final stretch in the Belmont because he had such a huge lead. Even still, he has a time record that may never be broken.
