This week's excuse, in paraphrase:

I've got to look at the numbers. Check my spin speeds. I felt like I was hitting the ball very well into the wind, but it just wasn't traveling like I expected. It seemed like it would get out there and just die.

Dude, please get over yourself and just play golf.

Sounds like something most PGA pros would say

guy's oblivious ... says he's playing well enough, then cites his horrible shots, then talks about his missed opportunities ...

I felt like I was playing well enough to win this event. On the very first hole on the first day, I fatted a sand wedge in the water. I fatted my 3-iron off the tee, and then I fatted my 8-iron into the green on 2, drove it in a divot there on 4. It was just one thing after another. I had my opportunities. I just didn't get the ball close enough, and then when I did, I didn't make them.”

That is an incredible stat. There are birdies to be had all over that course. Three is just terrible. Its hard to get a lot of birdies when you're scared to death to hit anything more than a four iron off the tee.

Looks like it is time to retire.

Lol what was his big opportunity on the first few holes of the tournament as he hit crappy iron after crappy iron. He talks like the core of his game is there and its the small stuff thats not going his way. Thats just not true. He cant hit a single club as well as he could 10 years ago.

He needs to swallow his pride and go back to Butch and see a sports psychologist.

Really? You must've watched way more player interviews than I have.

Tiger is done as far as his career. If I see another update when he is in 147th place in any tournament, I think I'm gonna pueke.

It does sound pretty typical. He discusses what went well and what went poorly. At the very least, the comments you highlighted weren't that noteworthy altogether.

Maybe it's just the tone with Tiger. Maybe it's that, plus hearing him repeatedly say that he feels like he's "right there" when, in fact, he's nowhere close.

Free advice for Tiger

Get back with the wife and then continue hitting strange on the side. Will end career with 43 majors championships. It was working for him before the divorce.

pros don't talk about spin rates when they're interviewed ... and they usually don't claim they hit it well when they hit god awful shots ...
