Hours after winning the pole for the 101st Indianapolis 500, Scott Dixon and three-time 500 winner Dario Franchitti were robbed at gunpoint at a Taco Bell on West 16th Street near Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

They were in the drive-thru lane around at 10 p.m. when two yutes robbed them of a wallet and cell phone.

Indy police confirmed that two juvenile suspects were arrested a short time later.

Robin Miller reported that Scott and Dario tried to go to decent restaurant, but it had stopped serving food at the late hour, so they decided to hit the Bell. Miller said the location was a "great place to get shot" but not the best bet for dinner.

He also said that Chip Gannassi has put a gag order on them about the incident. Chip would probably prefer they get some sponsor plugs in.

After driving many miles in a confined space without much nourishment or hydration, the first thing on my mind also is consuming greasy, explosive-diarrhea-inducing, pseudo food.

Not surprised, the speedway is in a pretty shady part of town.

It really sounds like a joke.

I got the story this morning from Paul Tracy, a racing teammate for seven years with Frachitti when both raced for Kool. He said the three went to Capital Grill to dine but it was after 10 pm and the place had closed. Not much else was open at that hour so they opted for Taco Bell, which he said was indeed in a shitty part of town. He also stated that the robbers overlooked the Rolexes all three were wearing as well as the Indy 500 champion rings Dixon and Fanchitti were wearing. He had some good stories about Ashley Judd, none very flattering.
