Bill Russell is the best basketball player of all time.
Yogi Berra is the best baseball player of all time.
Terry Bradshaw is the second best quarterback of all time
Henri Richard is the greatest hockey player of all time.

Why is it only football where the guy with the most rings is considered the greatest ever?

It's not just the rings, but thanks for playing.

He has a shitload of other accomplishments to go with the rings.

Make a case for someone being better based on how they play the position.

You don't wanna do that because he pales in comparison to Peyton Manning.

I wasn't saying he is or isn't based off whatever stats you want. Just saying Brady brings more to the table than rings.

You couldn't have picked a worse time to make this argument.

I assume you're picking a player at a position besides QB, like Jerry Rice. Because if you're choosing Manning or another QB, you're insane.

he threw for 470 yards in a super bowl in which his team was down by 19 in the fourth quarter

Manning pales in comparison to that.

There were like 10 teams back then. Great accomplishment. Those were more like division championships.

Explain how?

Because Manning has a bunch more subjective awards over Tom?

Manning in last year's super bowl:

13-for-23, 141 yards, zero touchdowns, one interception and a lost fumble. He finished with a 56.6 passer rating

The 85 Bears couldn't defend that stat line.

Ok, tell me why Tom Brady is the best ever without alluding to his championships.

Your argument for him falls apart quickly.

I'm sure the OP is a troll, but I'll play for the sake of discussion. Yes, he has the five rings. But there are a ton of other accomplishments to go along with that

Over the last 16 years NE has accomplished the following:

7 Super Bowls
14 AFC East titles
14 season double-digit reg season wins
25-9 record in the playoffs .735 winning %
11 AFC Championship games (including 6 in a row right now)

Besides Belichick, Brady is the ONLY constant since 2001. It's not just the 5 rings, It's the unprecedented consistency of winning. Especially in an era where parity has never been greater.

Gonna base an entire career off of his last game?
