If what you're really saying is in the 2011 draft Atlanta should have focused on drafting players to shore up the defense instead of blowing their load on Julio Jones then I agree. He's a great receiver. But he was not worth the # of draft picks they gave up for his services. Dimitrov doesn't get it. He never will. And that's the reason he will be unemployed alongside Mike Smith.

Oh look. It's another LSU fan starting a blatant troll thread towards Alabama.

These are rare indeed.

Julio Jones is a dog, that's for certain. But it was still one of the dumbest personnel decisions in recent NFL history for the Falcons to get him in the manner in which they did.

Thats the Falcons fault. Has zero to do with Julio's ability or production as a player

Absolutely. It doesn't make him a bust, or diminish his quality as a Top 3-5 WR over the past 4 years. Still not worth the insane amount of resources exhausted to have him on Atlanta. I can't think of any position that would warrant that to be honest, but WR is definitely really far down the list.

His assumed LSU bias will almost certainly make him think Cam Newton is a bust.

Well, that depends. Can a mid tier QB be considered a bust if he's the #1 pick? But let's not pretend Newton and Julio are even close to analogous here.

What players and picks did they give up?

And what players did other teams get with those picks?

The Robert Griffin one is awesome, but obviously Julio is a beast and RG3 is a scrub.

Atlanta had traded five draft picks to the Cleveland Browns to move up into their spot and take Jones, giving up their 27th, 59th, and 124th picks from the 2011 draft, and their first and fourth round picks from the 2012 draft.

From wiki. 5 picks including next year's first rounder. Julio Jones is unreasonably good for a WR, but he's just a WR.

Probably shouldn't count the late first rounder from that year though.

Correct, since he was mocked and downvoted into oblivion by dozens of other LSU fans.

Julio plays hurt, 7 catches for 107 yards to keep the playoff hopes alive. I just shot him an email and he was pretty excited to find out that he indeed is not a bust. He said the OP inspired him.
