If Cleveland wins it all this year, will Lebrons next contract be the largest of all sports?

He could pretty much ask for anything.

I love how casual sports fans show up during the playoffs. The NBA has something called a salary cap.

He's going to get the same thing Demar Derozan will get.

You don't understand how NBA contracts work, huh?

Hint: this isn't MLB.

Does he have to according to the CBA? I say this because, he makes tons and tons of money from endorsements. Couldn't he take a lower contract so the Cavs could sign top talent? They could build a dynasty.....OMG

Sure he could. For example he could walk into the owner's office and say "I'm asking for $1 Billion over 3 years, a magic unicorn and for you to perform oral sex on me."

He can ask for anything. He would even get one of those.

Taking it to the extreme hypothetical, the Union would exert all kinds of pressure on him not to do so, but at the end of the day, he could take a 1 year vet minimum salary, and they couldn't actually stop him from doing it.

Let's just say the NBA doesn't have a salary cap and your premise is right...

I was thinking that. I know he wouldn't take the minimum. But he could take a salary cap friendly/team friendly contract that would allow the Cavs to load up.

I'll preface this by saying I'm always for the player getting as much as he can and $1million is never a small sum of money for any of these players...but...

If you're Lebron, and some of these lifetime contract of upwards of $1billion from Nike, man I'd think you have to consider a big paycut to have enough to get a big name player, no? Maybe he'd do it for Miami, seems like a no go for Dan Gilbert.
