Instead of the dunk contest, which has gone to shite....

16 team bracket, 2 on 2 games. First to 16 wins, you can add the win by two option if you want. The teams are based on where players played college ball. For instance:

UCLA- Love/Westbrook
Texas- Aldridge/Durant
Kentucky- Davis/Wall

etc...

14 colleges, one international team, and one team of players who came straight from high school. Thoughts?

I like that idea a lot actually, but 16 teams to 16 is a lot of playing. I feel like a lot of players wouldn't participate because of how much time they would spend playing.

If you can find a big man to go with him, Klay Thompson would be one of them.

16 teams is a lot

Maybe cut the number of teams to 8 then. It would be kind of difficult to come up with 14 quality college teams in this tournament anyways.

It's not a bad idea overall.

I think grouping by school is a bad idea. Mainly because most schools will only have 1 guy.

Washington State, Oklahoma, Davidson, etc

I think letting the all stars pick their own 2 man teams would be cooler.

6 college teams
1 international team
1 high school team

This could be done. I just named three teams in the OP without thinking. International team would be easy, pick a guard to put with Dirk. High school team would be LeBron and whoever else you would want to put with him. Over time, this would turn into another international team because of the rule that players can't come straight from HS anymore.

It's not a bad idea. I just think making it college related is tough.

I thought of that too and it's why I cut it to 6 college teams instead of the original 14.

Too big and too many issues making pairings with colleges.

I would rather see a 4 team 3 on 3 tourney and have player captains and a draft similar to the probowl.

Play the semi-finals at the same time on either end of the court before the 3 point shoot out and then the finals immediately after.

Sounds alright, except for the fact that it's basically just a huge advertisement for those select few colleges. Doesn't really seem fair to give some schools a massive recruiting advantage, for no real reason in particular.

Why not do 2 v 2 from their current NBA teams?

I really like the idea of playing 2s or 3s. Would be super exciting and really personal.
