No it won't.

A film must open in the previous calendar year, from midnight at the start of January 1 to midnight at the end of December 31, in Los Angeles County, California and play for seven consecutive days, to qualify

Rule 2 states that a film must be feature-length, defined as a minimum of 40 minutes, except for short subject awards, and it must exist either on a 35 mm or 70 mm film print or in 24 frame/s or 48 frame/s progressive scan digital cinema format with a minimum projector resolution of 2048 by 1080 pixels.

what's kind of shitty is that ESPN already did an OJ 30/30. it's officially jumped the shark (if they haven't already)

You might be right about jumping the shark, although I don't think it's happened yet, but regardless, using what is widely praised as one of their better works is a bad example.

I've heard the director talk about the film a few times. He said its to show white people why black people were so happy about a murderer getting off. frick that, I'll pass.

I understand how our justice system takes advantage of people. It's horrible. I don't need an OJ doc to make me feel bad about being white.

Why would that make you feel bad about being white? Unless you had deeper issues to hide?

It's about the criminal justice system - and certain societies; and nobody can defend that shite show the last 100 years - black or white...the poors, uneducated from both black and plenty of whites...war on drugs and the history of getting railroaded.

It's supposed to be an historical exploration in why black people viewed the police as their enemy...

And you don't have to be a scholar to understand why.

And to say this doesn't need to be explored, well look at the reactions after the verdicts. White people were absolutely clueless even as late as 1994 as to why black people didn't trust a single thing the police say they found. The entire country was incredulous. The entire dynamic of police and black communities was buried for decades.

And no real reform on poor people - white and black even began being addressed until later.

And maybe that's the ironic point of the doc, that this rich black man, seen as white by advertisers, became the poster child for racial injustice.

I've heard that from the director as well, but I'll still watch, because there is no justification for black people or anyone being happy about a murderer getting off. He can try to convince me all he'd like, but I'm never going to look at the OJ trial and think that there was any good reason to celebrate getting away with a cold-blooded double murder. I'll still watch because it should be a good documentary and I'm not worried about falling for some type of guilt trip if that is his goal.

Deeper issues? I didn't mean that I'd feel bad. I meant I don't want to watch if the documentary tries to beat me over the head for being white.

ETA: I guess I'm not interested because I read a fair amount on the subject and am very aware why people don't trust cops(then and now). My parents are 70 and 65 and they know. Everyone I know...knows.

how is explaining why black people celebrated OJ being acquitted beating you over the head for being white? the police in this country did really shady shite to the black community for decades and that bred a humongous amount of distrust. i dont see why just exploring that equates to beating people over the head for being white

Which is justification for letting a murderer walk and then celebrating it like a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the 9th in the 7th game of the World Series?
