Though she had moved back into her old dorm, Brittany's partying escalated from beer to whiskey to vodka. Other students say her room reeked of weed, but that was just the beginning. She told The Magazine that the players turned her on to coke, ecstasy and LSD, and she says one player even tried to turn her out.

The most important recruit in UAB history was a freckle-faced, carrot-topped 14-year-old named Brittany, who finished high school in under a year. UAB pursued the 5'1", 120-pound bookworm

For those people that don't want to read that shite, can you just type out why you're mad at UAB for a 15 year old attending college 13 years ago?

Eta. Do you know her? Are you related to her? Were you there at the time?

ehh, the parents shouldnt have let their 15 year old daughter go stay by herself at college. Another case of terrible parenting. I feel bad for the girl, she is ruined for ever.

A 15 year old, no matter how brilliant, is just not ready to live alone in a college environment. Not unless you are basically turning them over to a surrogate family. I don't blame UAB, this could have easily happened at any college campus in America.

Hell, most 18 year olds aren't mature enough for college.

I kige this. Everyone who went to college knew some 18 year olds who weren't mature enough and partied their way to flunking out.

UAB should have either not recruited someone that age, or they should have taken better care of her considering how young she was. But it's not a reason to hate them 15 years later.

I really Have to put alot of the blame on the parents. No way in the hell am I allowing my 15 year old child to move into a college dorm. I would commute her too and from, or id allow her to move into a household that I know and trust, but 15 is much too young to be on your own. Sure, she maybe smart enough to handle the work.. But as we all know, there is sooo much more to college than school work,

Looks like the events took place in 2000. The lawsuit and article were just in 2002. 15 years is a long time, I hope she was able to get her life back on track and reach her potential.

Like others said, I wouldn't let my 15 yr old daughter live in a college dorm.
Watson Brown was a thug. He should have done more to his players than telling them to stay out of her room.
You can't blame the administration or campus police though. They talked to her and she said nothing was going on. Unless they had proof or she complained then there was nothing they could do.

I read the whole article, and the parents were very much concerned about this. UAB approached her, because they wanted the publicity of having a prodigy on campus. The parents had sit-down meetings with school administrators and were assured she would be looked after beyond what a normal student would be. The school went out of their way to avoid telling the parents anything and/or damaging the team when the coach had to give his players a PSA on not fricking the minor in their dorm. I absolutely blame UAB.

My little sister is 13, and this article pissed me off big time. I don't care how old it is. A bunch of 18-22 year olds taking advantage of a girl that has no clue what the hell she is doing (even some older than this apparently). I hope they get their dicks bit off by a Bear.
