Lots going on up there. They are about to get hammered worse than Ole Miss I'm afraid. It's really incredible but it seems to me that the two sleaziest coaches in all of college sports are currently employed by that university.

ole miss is probably going to receive the strongest punishment that the NCAA has given outside of the death penalty
louisville might officially lose their title but that literally does nothing to change the fact that they won the title and we all saw it happen
i think its pretty clear whose going to get fricked worse

Ole Miss will likely get it worse. Pitino didn't even get as long of a suspension as Boeheim did at Syracuse and they pretty well took a hit on the chin by self-imposing last season.
The thing to keep an eye on with Louisville is the current issues with the UofL Foundation. It's what got President Ramsey fired and it's come out recently that they were paying coaches out of the foundation when it was supposed to be geared more towards academics. If that money source dries up for Jurich, it could make it harder for him to retain coaches/hire in good coaches like he has.

Oh, this thread again

And I'm sure you will be following it closely, as you do anything concerning Louisville

Seeing as I live here, it's on the news about every night, and I work with kids that regularly attend UofL for dual credit it is a bit hard to "avoid".
Maybe your school should do better to keep themselves out of the nightly news.

It has always been UK fans wet dream for Jurich to leave UofL. They just hate the success he has brought. UK just can't and will never catch up to him
Posted on 6/19/17 at 12:39 am to cardswinagain
And UofL fans have been telling us for 10 years that all those Calipari banners were coming down.
Guess that's something else you can brag about "beating" us to.

I must be missing something, I'm pretty sure Calipari has already had 2 previous Final Fours vacated (inb4 "He had nothing to do with it)

Athletic foundations paying coaches and for facilities isn't anything new, not for UL or UK or anyone else. Many (maybe even most) public universities follow that model.
Board governance and oversight for the foundation is the issue here. I am actually not surprised one iota from what I've seen so far (especially with Mark Jurich's compensation, considering he is, functionally, the SVP and second-in-command of the athletic department), but the manner about which it happened is pretty brazen. Some of it seemed like straight pay for play.
I am glad the arena issue was settled, and frankly, you should feel as a Louisville and Jefferson County resident that you're getting something of a decent deal. The state has been bilking the county and city for tax dollars for so long (to the tune of 30 cents on the dollar) that it just shouldn't bother anyone at all that they have to pitch in a bit on an arena that has brought in a fair amount of economic traffic into the city. frick em. If they have to bail out a few hundred million, then that's just a small positive ledger in their many tens of billions of negative ledger over the decades.

Isn't the university in jeopardy of losing accreditation too?

I don't see how Tom Jurich still has a job. Scandal after scandal in Louisville, and yet, he is still there.

They're our rival and have been telling us since Cal was hired that all the banners are coming down. Now they're the ones losing a championship and 2 final 4's(most likely). We're not just going to sit here and say nothing

Louisville is trash but Kentucky fans are annoying
