I mean maybe 6 teams, which is unnecessary, but 10-12 teams is just dumb and will minimize the regular season. I'm tired of watching blowout playoff games.

8 or 12 teams. It would balance out recruiting too.

They really should just give the #1 team a bye and play 2 vs 3.

Geez. The final four is working. Get into the SEC as a coach or player if you want to win a Natty. Don’t try to convince me that a Boise or Cincy or whoever even belongs in the conversation

Well they are going to have to go 16 teams because the Bowls are becoming worthless and tickets are almost impossible to sell for most Bowls. Hell, players don’t even want to play in the damn things.

Face it, if there are 16 teams there will be 15 playoff games which will be much more marketable than the current bowl game scenario.

The Bowl Games can still exist even with Playoff expansion just like the NIT exists in Basketball. If a team doesn’t make the Playoffs then they can go to a bowl. They are meaningless anyway.

Forget the blowouts.

More teams equal more interest.

Everyone wants a chance to compete.

If they did away with conference tie ins to bowls it’d make them way more interesting.

This is stupid. Players already don't want to play in New Years 6 bowls and all Bama has to do is beat up one crappy team ro get into the championship.

At the very least with 12 teams you give more teams a better chance to upset a Bama or Ohio St or UGA. I wonder if Oklahoma St or Baylor could have knocked upset one of these teams, who knows. Plus with the NIL crap, the wealth of talent will be spread.

I want less.

Most of these teams are garbage.

If there is going to be a play off system why not expand it to 16 teams. Post season would be a lot more fun and bowl game would be less meaningless.

You could have a 16 team playoff this year and you'd still end up with Bama UGA as the final. Who wants to watch a bunch of lopsided playoff games? Tonight's games were unwatchable. Y'all want more of that?

Yes, I do

Bama and Georgia would not play every game. You likely get some good matchups. Using the Playoff Rankings, 16 teams gets you this:
Alabama-Oklahoma
Michigan-Iowa
Georgia-Oregon
Cincy-BYU
Notre Dame-Pitt
Ohio State-Utah
Baylor-Michigan State
Ole Miss-Oklahoma State

Sure, they'd tweak the matchups a bit, you'd not see conference matchups in the first rd. But most of those games would be fun, and you know there would be an upset or 2.
And just like we saw with the regular season, you don't always get your best from a team every game. Who knows if Alabama can string 3-4 games together, this year? They won solidly tonight, but it wasn't impressive. A team with a high-powered offense could have scared them.

What? They played super conservative and completely dominated that game because that's all they needed to do.

We already have interesting postseason matchups of good teams that won't win national titles...in the bowls. Watch the Sugar Bowl, great matchup this year. I guarantee it will be more interesting than the two terrible semi finals we just saw.

It is just astounding how some of you folks want to take what is ruining the game and expand on it.

You sound like politicians.

So you actually think having bowls which are so meaningless that players are refusing to play in any of them except playoff games is good for College Football?

You think bowls which are being played with tens of thousands of unsold tickets are sustainable?

You think that bowls can even remotely generate the TV dollars from Networks that a playoff game can generate?

You understand that FBS is the only level of football without a legitimate playoff? Little League, High School, FCS, Division 2, Division 3, and NFL all have playoffs.
However, somehow having a playoff is ruining FBS college football? Really?

What is hurting College Football are the Transfer Portal and NIL.

Yes An 8 vs 9 seed would be watchable.
A 7 vs 10 seed would be watchable.

Better than the cheezit bowl or Idaho potato bowl.

Maybe not a 2 vs 15 but you never know..this year that would have been Michigan vs Iowa. That’s still a watchable game.
