Ah, come on, Sam. You have to put Lebron in top 5 all time.

But that's ok. He was an all time great, one of the best ever. He doesn't have to be 1. But for people to say this guy was over rated is ridiculous.

Can he be overrated and one of the best ever? I don't know, just throwing it out there.

I think he may be ever so slightly overrated at the most, but nothing of note really.

Best ever no. Top 5 arguable.

Jordan and Kareem are 1 and 2 with a huge gap to 3rd.

why? Maybe how some idiots on the internet rank him or talk about him. But I don't see if you look at his career and say he's overrated.

On the court he is no worse than top 7. If you include CBB, NBA, coaching and FO, then I think Magic is correct.

Naismith award.
3x NBA MVP
2x Finals MVP
'98 Coach of the Year
'12 Exec of the Year

He has the GOAT basketball resume by a long shot.

So, I guess you didn't watch the very end of the first video I linked, where Magic Johnson said those exact words?
quote:

3× NBA champion (1981, 1984, 1986)
2× NBA Finals MVP (1984, 1986)
3× NBA Most Valuable Player (1984–1986)
12× NBA All-Star (1980–1988, 1990–1992)
NBA All-Star Game MVP (1982)
NBA Rookie of the Year (1980)
3× NBA 3-Point Shootout champion (1986–1988)
AP Athlete of the Year (1986)
National college player of the year (1979)

And that was against Magic, Kareem, Jordan
quote:

Bird would go on to win NBA Rookie of the Year honors. The Celtics improved by 32 games, which was the best single-season turnaround in NBA history.

quote:

After Bird retired, it would be 21 years before the Celtics would reach the NBA Finals again

Magic improved the Lakers by 13 games his rookie season

Jordan improved the Bulls by 11 games

Lebron improved the Cavs by 18 games

Bird is in the 5-7 range. And to say he wasn't a physical specimen is not true, he was all of 6'9 and cock strong with incredible stamina and toughness and possessed an unreal skill set for a man his size. To those who say he was overrated have no idea what the hell they are talking about, honestly anything basketball related they say after that should be discarded based on the fact that they are probably retarded......sorry, exceptional.

Well the Bulls and Cavs have never made the finals sans Jordan and Lebron respectively.

Well if the argument is that he's a top 10 player, then he's not overrated.

If the argument is that he's #1, then he is overrated.

I would never put him at 1. But he is a solid top 15 player.. maybe top 10. I guess you would have had to be alive back in the late 70's and through the 80's to see just how good he was... highlights just don't do him justice....

Which is my point, if he's properly rated in the 10ish range, than he's overrated at #1, just like he would he underrated at #25.

Yup... now when Magic played I could see him saying that Bird was the most competitive player he has played against though... Bird was a gritty talented player for his day.....

Flat out no. Just no. And how is it that Bird was considered the better player in their era but Magic's legend keeps growing while Bird's shrinks?

Because Magic is Brilliant in keeping his name out there and Bird is just A quiet guy... I doubt Bird cares about his legacy.........
