From wiki: Johnson was also friendly with Babe Ruth, despite Ruth's having hit some of his longest home runs off him at Griffith Stadium.

The harder they throw the further the ball flies
Ok, that solves it!

So now you want to drop Walter Johnson into the starting rotation.

Something tells me he could hold his own. Over 3,000 K's, maybe not, but he could pitch. And like every player make the adjustments needed to get better.

Now? I responded with that to the statement that greatness plays in any era.

But I guess the guy throwing 1 average fastball by today's standards would fare well? I'll disagree. Also, with adjustments, you don't just learn new pitches very quickly, these things are crafted over years and years.

But I'll ask again, how do you think Walter Johnson would fare in today's game?

I'd imagine pretty well since he'd only be going 7-8 innings every 5th day and able to let it fly on every pitch. But having never seen him, it's hard to know.

He'd get the job done.
