How the hell did Stephen A Smith survive the mass layoffs? Dude has no talent, and is the Jarvis DeBerry of ESPN. He is a race baiting hack on a soap box! WTF?

Threads like this are the reason he still has a job. The more you react to what he says, the more valuable he becomes to ESPN.

His contract that they would still have to pay out probably has something to do with it, too.

People keep acting surprised that the controversial personalities have kept their jobs but they're failing to realize that all the junk shows on ESPN are the only ones keeping it floating.

Blame stupid viewers for watching this shite, not ESPN for keeping them

He is worth the money for them. Controversial people like SAS get people talking.

Was hoping he would get canned but not for the reason most would think. I feel like he's a really rational person that was forced to scream outlandish bullshite for ratings. Basically playing a terrible character. Sometimes he said things I completely agreed with. If he was on another network I think I'd actually like him. Downvote away.

He didn't get fired because he's a controversial character that makes people talk about him, his show and ESPN. I mean, you started a thread about him. The rest of the guys let go didn't bring much to the table. In other words, they didn't get people? talking about them or what they said. He's the Donald Trump of ESPN basically.

He is considered the best individual on any ESPN platform right now by his bosses. Other analysts are judged by how they compare to SAS.

He is their star. He isn't going anywhere. You can always choose to just ignore him.

The fact that people hate him so much means he's really good at his job.

I don't think anyone actually likes the Screaming A act. But it clearly provokes a lot of emotion. I've heard him speak outside of ESPN though and he's a normal guy.

You should put that gif on the main ESPN layoff thread if you really want heads to explode.

Assuming you're OK with 50+ downvotes.

Except, it doesnt actually. ESPN has the right to do whatever the frick they want to do.

But the retorts of "it brings viewers" are incorrect.
