His family has "FU" type money. Don't think he'll ever be broke. If he left the NFL tomorrow, he could have a lucrative 10+ year career being a celebrity socialite/deejay at Las Vegas night clubs.

With regards to the league, I think he'll get at least one more chance to make a squad. However, if he doesn't start during that first season, I predict he would become disengaged and it would be another short stay somewhere (and possibly his last one).

I'll be the first to say it: he won't go broke because his family is wealthy.

Manziel's great grandfather drilled out some oil near a church in 1933

It's a shame because a lot of these kids strive to get into the league to be able to support their families...

He has a long Charlie Estevez legacy until one day he releases some horrible news about his health.

He might go broke but his family won't so basically he will never be broke. Johnny is probably the first college athlete of actual means who has grown up in the new "bottle service party society" of the last 10-15 years. He was rare amateur athlete who could actually party & keep up somewhat monetarily with pro athletes & celebs. He was just photographed this past Sunday afternoon partying in Uptown Dallas at a club. I still think Jerry will sign either him or RG3 to be the Cowgirls backup QB. The circus gets larger.

Contrary to what we all thought there's some people on here say the idea his family has money is quite exaggerated. His father owns a used car lot, and the grandparents used to have money but not so much anymore. They made it sound more like semi upper middle class than wealthy. If that's true, Johnny could drink thru that quite easily.

I guess it depends on who you talk to. Wasn't trying to call you a liar, I've just heard the exact opposite from the (admittedly few) folks I know who know him personally.

One of those folks is my little brother, though, and he's not given to spinning yarns (nor does he even like Manziel), so Imma roll with what he says

Doesn't matter at the end of the day, though, I guess. Not our money
