It's take lots of experience buy here's a guideline.

1. Take the team with the better defense, especially if you're getting points
2. Go against young QB, esp on the road
3. Take the team with the better running game
4. Take battle tested teams, again esp if they are underdogs
5. If ESPN talks about how great/unstoppable a team is during the week, take the other team

Always take a double-digit home dog plus the points in a conference game. In the long run you'll come out ahead.

If someone upsets #1 bet against them the following week.

Have parameters regarding the way you bet rather than who you bet on.

Having irregular betting habits and chasing losses are the most common novice mistakes, not just making square bets.

Ok I have followed college football religiously for many years and spend a good part of my life devoting it to watching games. This year I want to bet. Not crazy money but just something to make it a little more interesting. My questions are:

Get in the right frame of mind to bet or don't. Betting isn't easy just because you've been "following college religiously"
