re: How badly will Chip Kelly fail in the NFL?

quote:

He won't fail.

If i had to guess, he'll run an up tempo version if what Seattle, San fran, and Carolina do, which is a traditional offense with some read option mixed in.

But his success is based on the tempo of his offense, not the option.

He plays monte Kiffin twice so I'm gonna guess he gets at least 2 wins.

I think he gets a steal in round 2 with the de from smu

Why do so many people anxiously await someone's failure in sports? Wouldn't it be great if he succeeded?

Everyone thought Pete Carroll would flop, and he is kicking ass.

He's had one winning season in Seattle, and he was on the hot seat to start the season. In fact he has a better winning % when we was with New England. To me that is hardly kicking ass.

I'm not sure if he's much of a technical game coach.

It's his system and he ran it and ran it repeatedly - even when against a brick wall - hoping to wear you down. Even when things were failing miserable (rare) but still no adjustments against Stanford, Boise, etc.

Carroll was a great 2nd half defensive adjustment coach...hallmark was shutting teams out in the 2nd half.

Saban has a family in name only; he would never let his family get in the way of football.

I'm not hoping for anything. I just think he's going to suck. Would it be great if he succeeded? I don't care.

He'll be a consistent wild card team coach never winning the whole thing

I like pulling for the underdog and good guys of this world but personally I don't think he has much of a chance.

Several OL have been quoted on various ESPN shows as saying there was no way in hell that Kelly's fast paced offense would work in the NLF.Their point being that no OL could keep up that pace all season long against top flight DL game after game. One said to even try & practice it during the preseason would wear the OL down before the season even started. And Kelly is no "nice guy". Between his Saban like annual interest in going to the pros & his personality, many of the Duck's biggest boosters were getting tired of him. He is most definitely not the most personable coach in the world. According to several articles in the papers up there, anyway. But I want him to have some success, as I do not want him back in college football. I can just see him coming to the SEC & making it even more difficult.

NO idea where you are getting this from.

Which is why he's instituted rigorous training and diets for all the team. He hired a "sports science coordinator" for this purpose. He will get guys that can handle the pace. If they can't, they will be working elsewhere.

He's got a relatively young powerful team to coach I think he'll do alright. Definitely better than what the eagles have been doing the last few years.

what proof do you have that he isn't going to succeed on the next level?

Also, if he does fail in the NFL. He'll be a prime candidate for the UT Austin job.

What proof is there that he'll succeed? It's an opinion

Carol was a decent NFL coach during his last stint. Or first stint I guess I should say

His first stint wasn't his last stint, he was one and done with the Jets.

I think he'll do well. His system lends well to plug and play players.

Like all coaches, it depends on how bad the players are.

I remember when people said A&M was going to get crushed trying to run an up tempo offense in the SEC due to those very same reasons.

Um, you don't believe that do you? Jim harbaugh and mike Singletary coached the same team minus a rookie pass rusher with decidedly different results.

Do I believe that players are more important than coaches? That a coaches success is more dependent on the talent he has on the roster than anything else?

Yes I absolutely believe that.

Outlier. Bill Belicheck got fired from the Browns, give him Tom Brady though and he wins three Super Bowls.
