Houston Rockets Thread of Awesomeness

According to the offseason talk, the Houston Rockets are currently playing with an overrated shooting guard who can't defend and a bunch of scrubs, yet they continue to win ball games.
Injuries: Dwight Howard (7 games straight), Terrence Jones (starting PF, 2 months straight), Patrick Beverley (starting PG), Isaiah Canaan (back-up PG).
The Rockets are left with these guys down low: Donatas Montejunas, Joey Dorsey, Tarik Black, and Clint Capela.
Results against the Grizzlies who start Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph down low were encouraging.
Hakeem gave up on Howard, so he's teaching his moves to Donatas...
And Joey Dorsey would like to be referred to as LeBron James from now on.

Can I mention that Trevor Ariza has been phenomenal? But those Mavericks fans are sure happy with Chandler Parsons... LINK
I especially love the part where they complain about his defense not improving. Sure seems like his former team has improved defensively... Maybe Harden wasn't the biggest problem...
Kevin McHale looks like a solid coach of the year candidate so far. I have gone from loathing the man who was hired when Houston was not an attractive team to coach to believing we have one of the best coaches in the league.

I simply put, "No Pelitards allowed," but it seems that they have chosen to downvote instead.

Motiejunas has been looking fantastic lately... both offensively and defensively.
He's been the go-to guy with Harden on the bench, and he's thrived.

Def looks better than Jones.

i can't remember who, but someone was saying how awful he was during the offseason. lots of people on the pels board wanted him with Asik.
Rockets have played very well with all the injuries they've had. certainly Ariza has outplayed expectations. they've benefitted from a relatively easy schedule to begin the season, so it's good they've got off to the hot start. interested to see what they can do when fully healthy.

I was definitely a D-Mo hater coming into this year. He has been all hype and no production until very recently.

Missing 3 starters and 2 backups and still beat Memphis last night

slightly off topic, but I would be interested to see the percentages of european players who come over and succeed in the NBA and whether the rate of success has gotten better over the past few years.

I think the trick with Euros is giving them a role that they can succeed at. Kostas Papanikolaou has been great for Houston as a glue guy who is just asked to do a little of everything. It's exactly what he did in Spain. NBA scouts get enamoured with certain skills and try to force these guys into being superstars. Super stars aren't nearly as common in Europe. They play team ball.

Anyone take a gander at Hollinger Power Rankings and how fricking stupid they are????
Rockets are 11th behind a Kings team that has lost 4 in a row. And an 8-8 Pels team. I guess the Cavs have a better SOS...but I still think they are better.
The Kings garbage makes me think SOS weighs heavy heavy. So the Rockets could theoretically play the Clippers and Warriors in back-to-back games, lose both games by about 10, and they'd be ahead of the Kings instantly. Seems dumb to me.
