Very impressed so far this season. GM has done a great job developing young players into a winning ball club.
What do you all think will be the outcome of their season?
By the way...Im a Braves fan and I don't have much to say about that.

Congrats to the Astros and Nats for tanking seasons and getting high picks.
Good "planning" I guess.

Making the playoffs this season depends on more young guys coming up and producing, including a 21 year old (Lance McCullers) starting on the mound Monday and next month's expected debut by top minor league prospect, shortstop Carlos Correa. Plus, expect the GM, Jeff Luhnow, to make some deals, most notably one for a veteran starting pitcher.
Overall though, the Astros look capable of winning 85-90 games right now.

It feels good to be good at baseball again.
I'm still scared to be overly optimistic because there are holes with the back end of the rotation and the streaky offense. If the guys coming up pan out this year though, then I honestly could see them making the wild card and a real chance of winning the division.
It's the first time in years that I've seen the team as a whole really look like they are having fun going to the park every day.

I think they are a year away, but that said the AL West blows. Seattle and LA are really meh. I wouldn't be surprised if they win the West but I think it will be next year.

And don't forget the impact by proxy of Correa. They've been channelling his skills in the majors on a consistent basis.

Houston was smart, owner is a st.louisan, and brought in a guy from St.Louis to get them back to respectability.
People continue looking more and more at the Cardinals Org and how they continue to compete, year after year. So get some one from the org, and Crane did.
Also, it was the perfect storm, as Crane was looking to build his org, there was a powerplay between Jeff and Mo over the draft and scouting.
Crane knows the Cardinals ownership and people in the org and swooped in and got him a guy to build the whole Houston org, from the ground up.
Good for Houston, they were only team from Central i ever gave respect. Some decent battles with the Killer B's for the Central and the right to go to the WS.

the Astros had 4 players under the mendoza line and 1 player right at it at the Giants game I was at this week…maybe they were resting starters? but that's not long-term success in the MLB.

The streakiness is what worries me as well. If they somehow made the post season I hope they don't hit a cold streak in a short series like the 5 game ALDS.

One of them was George Springer, who will hit better and bring speed, power and defense to the table. The rest? Many are not likely part of the long-term equation. Gattis or Carter goes within the next year while Valbuena is a decent stop-gap at 3B. Villar and Grossman are backups who are likely not on the team within the year; in fact, the latter was already sent down to AAA.
That said, the current team is not built too well for the postseason because the lineup is far too likely to be skunked by elite pitching. But getting there to find out for sure would be fine with me.
