The NBA has to be the sport that is influenced the most by playing at home. It's amazing to see teams down 2-0 in series, and come out looking like superstars in game 3.

Can you think of another sport where playing at home impacts the game more?

there was an ECF series in the past three years, that had a blowout for the home team in nearly every game.

Part of it is the travel and the quick turnaround between games.

Don't some baseball teams build their teams around how their park is built? If so I would say home court is more important for them than a basketball team

I mean, baseball is the only sport that has an actual tangible home-team advantage (home team gets to bat last).

Also, this.

Home teams in hockey get the last change during stoppages, so they can decide the match-ups for face-offs and based on zone of the face-off.

Home court in CBB is an even stronger advantage. The crowd, the home whistle, and the sight lines.

This was proven during studies in the past. The refs are biased (intentionally or not) by location.

It's not as much of a factor in pro football as it used be. There was a time when just about every NFL stadium had a "mystique" to it that made it difficult for opponents to win.

Probably has to do with the improvements in travel accommodations. Teams are getting to away games and staying more comfortably.
