OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Sources said Oakland city council met in a special closed session Monday where they were expected to vote on an offer for the Coliseum property put forward by a group headed by NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott.

No vote occurred Monday and leaders could vote on the issue Tuesday.

If approved by each entity, the Lott Group can then enter into negotiations with the Raiders on a deal to build a stadium. All this comes as the Raiders consider an offer to move to Las Vegas.

Just move the team to Vegas already

Oakland has had their chance to do something for many years

Stadium is a pile of shite

They are too busy rioting over Trump to care about sports anyway

Oakland is not a pro sports city. But the NFL wants a presences there for whatever reason, so no telling what happens.

If if they want to stay in the Bay Area they could move into a 49ers stadium after it gets a neutral makeover. If the chargers pass on la the raiders would be crazy to not snag the option.

Niners will not do that. They probably would negotiate to allow the Raiders to play there, but they're not going to remodel it to make it seem neutral.

I doubt Mark would do that anyways.

This might be a dumb question but I don't really follow the NFL other than on Sundays watching my fantasy teams. Why are so many teams talking about moving? Rams just moved across the country, SD is talking about having to leave SD, Oakland talking about moving...why?

So instead of just staying put and keeping on the way they've been doing, they want to move cities entirely? Sounds like an extreme overreaction yeah?

Oakland's situation is different. Their stadium is a nightmare.

I get why people want owners to pay for their own stadium, but if you have another city willing to build it for you, you go

I relate it to marriage. If you've been married 20 years and your wife says "suck your own dick" and a hot young blonde comes calling offering a blowjob palace, it's hard not to leave

Can I get directions to this...blowjob palace?

Oakland's situation is much different. I believe SD is in the same boat too, other than sharing a stadium with a MLB team.

O.CO is the 3rd oldest stadium in the NFL and hasn't seen much upgrades. It has sewage issues, drainage issues, and the field is a disaster.

I'm not entirely sure if this is true, but when Al was alive, he burned a lot of bridges with Oakland city officials, so that's why it's been so tough for Mark to get them to build a new stadium. Mark is also seeing a bigger opportunity in Vegas where he is the only team there and has a strong following still. In the Bay area, he has to compete with the Niners.

The Warriors are moving to SF after this season
The Raiders want to move to Las Vegas
The A's tried to move to San Jose and are only trying to get something done in Oakland because MLB won't let them move
