Mark Cuban called it a few years ago but I've seen interest wane among most of the people I know. The game of football is not the problem. We all love college football, but the LEAGUE is the issue. From the commissioner on down. Most of us will still watch games but only as very casual fans, and if I miss a game on a Sunday, I'll be okay with it.

biggest issue. footbal was at its peak when he took over. all he had to do was not touch it and collect his huge check.

Nope. The nfl is still by far the most popular sport in America.

Personally I think it has, but it's not like there aren't anything they can do to give it another spike.

That has nothing to do with it peaking.

I think it's fair to say they hit turbulence after a decade plus of fast growth

No. That's absurd. A lot issues had to be dealt with. Domestic abuse and other crimes by players was a big problem. CTE had to be dealt with.

Do you think Goodell could have gotten away without dealing with those issues? Goodell has overboard with stuff, but Goodell is not and was not the source of most of the NFL's problems.

Yes. The upcoming generation will be deterred by the TBI issue. There will still be a large number of participants but kids playing football will decrease. They will find other sports to play-basketball, baseball, soccer and interest in those sports by themselves and their parents will increase. They may not individually surpass football and therefore the NFL however they will pick off interest.

It peaked a few years ago.

Since then fans are pissed about more relocation, what is and isn't a catch, increase in b.s. PI calls to increase scoring, hampering the D, the concussion issue, you can't hit high, you can't hit low, terrible officiating, terrible new rules.

If some from 1986 went to the future now and watched a football game, without the conditioning of slow change and acquiesce...he'd say, "what the hell is this?"

I think y'all are getting peak confused with popular. It's obviously still the most popular sport in the USA. Has it peaked? Time will tell. I would guess the best years are behind us. So to answer your question...yes. It will still be the most popular sport for many many years though:

Most grievances are too many penalties and the way the wr position is glamorized

Yes it has IMO... The product is lame and you have maybe ten real good qb's in this league plus about 7-8 real good offensive lines... The league is watered down and the Networks control way more than most think..... College football is much more exciting...........

It's taken a few hits recently but it has not peaked.

Their talent pool comes primarily from low income families without an education. Unless that changes they will have an endless stream of kids and families who see football as the means to an end and will gladly send Lil Timmy out there regardless of the lifetime of harm it will cause.

More recent, apparently pro football has dropped less than College football in popularity relative to its peak
