Our winning moralizer is Ken Gurnick, a very competent Dodgers beat reporter for MLB.com. Today Gurnick, along with MLB.com's other writers, revealed their ballots, and out of the 100-something total made public, Gurnick is the very first to leave Maddux off. He has just one name on his ballot: Jack Morris. Here's his rationale.

quote:

Morris has flaws — a 3.90 ERA, for example. But he gets my vote for more than a decade of ace performance that included three 20-win seasons, Cy Young Award votes in seven seasons and Most Valuable Players votes in five. As for those who played during the period of PED use, I won't vote for any of them.

The process is broken. When a guy like maddux is left off the ballot when jack morris is on that ballot

EL OH EL

This is how I know baseball is dumb. You take a top pitcher of all time, and have guys leave him out. Griffey hasn't come up yet has he? I figured he would be a unanimous if there was one, but this guy will likely leave him off too

I despise the MLB Hall of Fame. Truly the worst of the big sports.

He flat out said he won't vote for anyone from the start of the PED era onward. He shouldn't be allowed to vote anymore.

I like Jack Morris but that rationale is retarded.

If there is anyone who played during the PED era that I am 100% confident didn't use roids, Maddux is that guy
