Not true. Even if Jordan's prime was eight years long ('91-93 and '96-98), which I don't think it was, there were the two off-years and other opportunities to win. If you can't get over the hump once in your career, you're not a champion.

Not to mention a Top 3 coach.

Gonna have to disagree here.

1) Pop
2) Thibs
3) Carlisle

Agree to disagree. Team is important and a lot of times the stars only aline a couple of times. If there is an unbeatable juggernaut during the year your team is great, that's bad luck.

Oh for sure. He might be the best motivator in the league. I just think there are a few others that are better in the X's and O's department.

Crazy? They were pretty much just as good as the Thunder last season.
Yet, they lost.

The West is deep. There are quite a few teams who could make a run.
So why would you pick a team that's never even made it to the conference finals to win the conference finals? If the conference is deep - which it is - that's all the more reason to pick a team that's actually won before (i.e., Spurs or Thunder).

Fair enough.

Now let me hate Van Gundy in peace!

I don't rate Thibs as highly as others. I think he is awesomely defensively but struggles on the other end. Love Carlisle. And Pop is obviously number one.

Great coach. Two of the top five players in the league. No ownership distractions.

They've been in the playoffs. They've won series. You think they'll be overwhelmed if they get to the conference finals? That's just silly.

If you're only argument is they won't do it because they haven't done it before, then you aren't running with much.

No one wins until they do it.

And this is where our differences lie. I love Van Gundy. I supported the Rockets firing him, but I absolutely love him. I actually think he would be a perfect coach for the Rockets right now.

I think that is more personnel related imo. This season will be the real test for that because they finally have a bunch of weapons.

Maybe so. At the end of the day, there are way too many variables to rank coaches after Pop in my opinion. I respect Thibs at 2. I just don't agree.
