quote:
"I love this city," Lee says. "I love my teammates. It's going to be a good team for years to come. For my family, this couldn't be a better situation.
"Free agency is when a player finally gets a choice, and I'm looking forward to that. There are so many things that can happen. I'm just more focused on helping this team win a World Series."
Then came the words that the Rangers will hang onto.
"If we do that," Lee says, "it would be hard to walk away."
quote:
Says Greenberg, whose ownership group took over the team in August after winning an auction in U.S. bankruptcy court: "We think we have things to offer from a lifestyle standpoint that are enormous advantages.
"We can't control what the Yankees or any other club chooses to offer. We know we're going to have to be aggressive financially.
"We're not going into this with a pea shooter. The old Rangers are gone."
Perhaps the Rangers' greatest sales pitch simply was having Kristen sit in the visiting family section at Yankee Stadium during the playoffs. She says there were ugly taunts. Obscenities. Cups of beer thrown. Even fans spitting from the section above.
"The fans did not do good things in my heart," Kristen says.
"When people are staring at you, and saying horrible things, it's hard not to take it personal."

I read an article last week about how his son got cancer when he was real young and how since they live in Arkansas and Cliff is now in Dallas he is able to watch him play little league and all that. Makes me think its gonna take 27 a year to get him away.

its gonna be a tough sell for the yankees, BUT ask cc about the powers of cashman.

I'd like it if he stayed with teh Rangers - or frankly went to any team other than the Yankees
But they have a habit of offering so much money that you just can't say no

I remember Carlos Beltran saying similar things during the 2004 playoffs.

shite get blown out of proportion just like piss balloons at tiger stadium. yes yankee fans are passionate and may cross the proverbial line, but its what makes yankee stadium the place that it is.

Players say this every year and the local media dutifully reports it to get the locals' hopes up. and then said player signs with the Yankees for top dollar and lives in his fortress of solitude, away from the rabble.
This means nothing. I think the Rangers have a real shot at keeping Lee, but that's because the Rangers have a lot of cash at their disposal as well.

Cliff Lee WILL SIGN WITH THE YANKEES BECAUSE MONEY TALKS AND bullshite WALKS. You think it's a coincidence that we fired Dave Eiland our pitching coach of the past three years? It's not, we're going to sign Lee and his Texas pitching coach as well. Just take solace in the fact that we WERE IMPRESSED ENOUGH WITH YOUR TEAM TO GO AND RAID IT in the offseason. You were a nice little story while it lasted but sports are a business and you don't have the resources to handle a payroll of over 140 Million. It's a tough world out there. AIDA. ALWAYS BE CLOSING. The Yankees understand this BETTER THAN ANY FRANCHISE IN SPORTS. Money talks gents, and that is why you will be watching Cliff Lee in pinstripes next year.

When I said "the rabble", you know I was talking about you, right?

I really don't care if you were talking about me or not. It doesn't make a difference because real Yankee fans like me will love Lee because he produces results and THAT more than anything else is what sports are all about. Money, Results, Winning.
Again, the 2010 Texas Rangers have been a nice story, but nice stories don't get you paid.

Exactly. Hard to argue with that unless you just want to be in denial.

Don't get your hopes up. An ESPN article said that him and CC are good friends and their wives are good friends. The sabathias helped them look for homes while there were talks of him being traded to the yanks in july. That plus a mountain of cash. He's in pinstripes.

Are all Yankee fans illiterate? Read my friggin post. I said those comments don't mean jack and he's likely to end up playing for the Yankees and the only reason the Rangers will be contenders is that they have lots of money, too.
This is a standard stroy that happens to every soon to be free agent before they go off and sign with the highest bidder.

No one was talking to you. There were plenty of other Rangers fans in this thread who were taking Lee at his word. So retract your statement re: the illiteracy of Yankees fans.

You quoted my post. Obviously, you were talking to me.
Oh, you are a complete moron. I mean, if you're gonna lie, why lie about something so easy to prove false for absolutely no gain? That's befuddling. I'm hoping it's just that you're an idiot and not a pathological liar with no control of said compulsion.
