Explains why he hasn't been playing so well lately. Good for him to step away get family situated first and come back and play like the player he really is. Wishing the best for Jason

still wonder why he committed to the tournament ... wouldn't think the surgery was planned after last monday, assuming that's the cutoff date ...

He mentioned something about his mother saying she didn't want him to let it get to him. As most parents would probably say. If I had to guess he thought playing would take his mind off it for a little bit. When he got out there today he realized it was the exact opposite when that's all he could focus on likely. He was down 3 after just 6 holes so it was baaad. Would I have committed to playing, no, but we also don't know the family dynamic/business side. I would hope he wouldn't feel pressured to play in that situation because of sponsors etc.

The more I learn about the situation, the more I think part of this is him pulling one of his attention whore moves.
Get mad at me if ya want. Call me whatever you want. Look through my post history and you'll see that I NEVER take situations like this lightheartedly. I never make cheap jokes about them. I don't believe in doing that.
I think Day is milking the situation.
His mom has been sick for quite a while now. And he's been playing while leaving her in Australia to basically die. Their doctors pretty much gave up on her and said she's a dead person.
He decided to bring her here and doctors have said they're pretty sure they can do surgery and save her. He's known this for a bit. Knew the date of this surgery and decided to play this week.
I'll stop. But it's my opinion that he's being his normal insane self.
I hope his mother makes a wonderful recovery.
so he and his doctors said 'screw it, she's not gonna live, let's go play golf' ... seems legit ...

doubt he gets paid for a WD ... not blaming the guy, just don't understand why he thought playing would take his mind off a major operation on his mother ... kind of messes up the dynamics of his group ...
