I think they know this and have put all their effort into putting together a competitive team for when the new ballpark comes around here in a few years.

Not really sure they are going to even care about winning until that time. Any player they don't think will be around another 4 or 5 years will get shipped out for any youngsters they can get their hands on.

Yep, like I said, prepping for 2014 or 2015. Gonna suck to be a fan for the next few years

And don't count them out for Prince either...

That would be nice for them.

As a baseball fan, it's fun to see GMs build a squad from the ground up.

They gave up too much IMO. All four players are among their top ten prospects.

Agreed.

Even if I'm a Braves fan and they are our direct competition.

A lot of ifs, you forgot to mention no proven SS, Chip is another year older and Prado needs to bounce back because he will need to take over 3B(assuming we don't trade him) when Chip hits the bench 2 weeks in, JHey needs to reconstruct his swing, Hanson is going to be iffy to start the season, Moylan may not be around...a lot of ifs.

I agree there are plenty of question marks with the lineup... but there's plenty of talent and upside. Pitching staff and bullpen is strong enough to keep them in it... as it did last season. There's going to be a couple of trades... most likely involving Prado and Jair that certainly will help with their issues.

This team can hit more than people think. They could lead the NL in HRs. Plus their best hitters are all 30 and younger.

I see your point with the power and age, but the BA and OBP for that team are going to be ugly.

I'm not sure I understand what Beane is doing. He's rebuilding a team that was somewhat already in rebuilding mode?

It does seem like they've been rebuilding since the Hudson/Zito/Mulder days doesn't it? It is strange that he started developing his next trio Anderson/Gonzalez/Cahill only to move them for more magic beans. As others have mentioned, I think it has a lot to do with them trying to move out of Oakland, accumulating as much talent as possible, and build from their farm in the Tampa/Washington mode.

This has to be in response to the scathing article on the front page of the Post sports section this morning bitching about the Nats' complacency this year in FA.

Can't wait for the season. Got my tix.
