- Choosing to receive at OT (never in any permutation an advantage)
- McCaffery fumble
- Luter having 0 awareness where the punt is going and hits him
- 3rd down playcall on last SF drive at KC 10 that took 3 seconds to develop and ended up being blown up, forced FG
- Kicker hitting the Extra point 5-1/2 to 6 ft off the ground and blocked

Execution. Little things always separate the elite from the good.

How did you forget “not running the football”?

Kc kicks a fg they get it first in sodden death

I think the maths closer than you think based on the massive advantage if you survive the first exchange

I’m fine with them taking the ball in OT. Defense was gassed.

Muffed punt off Luter was huge. Missed PAT too.

Biggest issue was run of three and outs in the 3Q where they refused to run the ball.

Greenlaw somehow breaking his knee getting ready to jog on the field didn't help

That was absolutely the right decision. If it’s still tied after each team has had one possession, it’s sudden death. So obviously you want at the ball first.

Common misperception.

Because of the formats, and the plausible percentage of equitable outcomes (neither team scores initially, both teams get a FG, both get a TD), its actually slightly advantageous to take the ball 1st-- you'll get it 3rd, guaranteed, when the game goes to true sudden death.

No, there isn't. The team that gets the ball last will always have 4 downs to work with unless 1st team doesn't score at all compared to the team with first possession gets 3. That's a huge advantage.

Blocked XP was biggest play of the game. Changed direction of momentum, strategy, pucker factor.

Does SF have a screen pass in their playbook??? Every obvious pressure situation from Spags they never ran one.

If the 49ers had won you could have made a similar list for KC.

This is the biggest thing. Shannahan chokes once again in the 2nd half.

That's the point-- if SF gets the ball 1st and 3rd, and scores on the 3rd possession, the Chiefs do not get an attempt. The game ends.

The overtime decision to receive wasn't crazy.

That defense was crazy gassed after that last chiefs drive.

Your point is well taken, but it isn't even in the top 5 of reasons they last this game

Chiefs are like the Alabama dynasty under Saban. If you have them down you have to step on their throat. Self imposed mistakes will always come back to bite you. Also field goals will never beat teams like this. Only TD’s.

It was absolutely the wrong decision. Look what happened. They lost because of it. KC gets the ball, they have 3 downs instead of 4. It was a mistake. It cost them a Super Bowl.

Not running the ball after the turnover coming out of half was the biggest mistake. All the other stuff sucks, but that’s gonn haunt Shanahan

Because running the football does not score touchdowns when inside the opponent red zone. Defenses stack the lines with less field behind them. They lost bc they didn't score inside the 20. Running would've been a bad decision. It was just a lack of QB talent and maybe O line.
