I guess he says that Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State, and Notre Dame recruit negatively against him. I suppose that makes sense since those are their biggest rivals in recruiting.

I have no sympathy for Penn State. None. Sure, I know it's not Franklin's fault but the administration covered up for a child abuser

Franklin had no problem gutting Vandy's class when he left. Some of these guys are such hypocritical douches. His shitastic offenses provide plenty of negative recruiting material on their own

Is calling a school a bunch of pedo-lovers really considered negative recruiting?

If so, good for MSU, Michigan, Ohio State, and Notre Dame.

And I'm not sure I've ever said that before.

And there is a good chance that if you asked those 4 schools which programs recruit negatively, Penn State would be on the list.

Seems like the norm for recruiting; unfortunately for Penn State, they have given teams extra incentive for that recruiting method.

Guess he shouldn't have gone to a school that protected a child molester because he was a good football coach

massive fan base
great facilities
the state has great high sccool football
Paterno had some undefeated seasons. One year, he massacred Kansas the supposed great undefeated Big 8 champ, and another school was named national champ by the voters. I prefer the 4 team playoff. those boys might have won it. Very nice team. I saw them play a few times that year.
Anyway, they have a great tradition of excellence on the field.
And MSU, Mich, THE Ohio State and ND have coveted Pennsylvania players from generations. NFL QBs say hi. Mighty teams at Pitt and Penn State. Jackie Sherrils backers putting up the money for Dorsetts class, which was 100 freshmen. With that massive class, you could find some good ones. And the other classes that followed were solid.
Franklin is going to have to complete with Urban Meyer. Good luck.

"Child abuser" is too nice. Sounds like someone slapped around a kid.

More like "Child MOLESTER".

How bad must it suck for to be a fan of penn St. I mean seriously 99% of them probably knew nothing about the scandal. If LSU was hurt by something like that I would be devastated.

frick him. He bitched about kids flipping from Vandy on signing day and then turned around and celebrated flipping a qb the same day. He's one of my least favorite coaches.

They have a stain on their school/town/football program that won't go away for a very long time.

There's very few recruits that Ohio State had battled for against Penn State in the Urban era.

This is sour grapes. Franklin knows his seat is getting a little warm after 7 win seasons.

Of course teams recruit negatively against Franklin and Penn State, it would be stupid to refrain from it. Coach Franklin has yet to have a signature victory during his tenure, which makes for some easy ammunition. His seat is warm, according to some in the fan base, as well as others on the outside.

The easiest ammunition of all is the sex abuse scandal, and the ramifications it still holds on the image of the team and the school. If my $2mm+ job was reliant upon pointing that out to 16-17 year olds, you'd better believe I'd be doing the same.

All that said, I would be shocked if the four named coaching staffs were the most guilty of negative recruiting. I'd say Maryland, Rutgers, Syracuse, Pitt, West Virginia, and the like are the main culprits. They have much more to gain from continued Penn State troubles than does Ohio State and Notre Dame.
