we hear all the news recently about scouting services and street agents in football (and basketball) and the influence people have on recruits going to certain schools. we hear about the money offers from boosters, families being taken care of and such for football recruits.

why is there no talk about baseball recruits?

are the types of players different?
is the fact that football is the bigger money sport?
is it happening, but just not as widespread?
is it happening but not on the same monetary levels of other sports?
do they, on average, come from better income families?

watching the college world series last night had me thinking about it. high school baseball recruits often pass up money (sometimes big money) to go to college, an opportunity football players don't have.

just curious and wanted to hear some others thoughts.

Baseball players are paragons of virtue.

recruits use colleges as a bargining tool for the pros many times. if they dont get what they think they're worth, they know they can likely increase their value in 2-3 years
