So I stop by my local gray hound race track to pick up a college football parlay betting card. I've done very little sports betting (only online betting) and was surprised see this:
So, it says I must pick between 4-10 teams to win. The first line reads:

S. Carolina + 1 N. Carolina +7

I've never seen this before. The only spreads I've ever seen are: TEAM A -5. TEAM B + 5

How does this work? Why do they do this at this race track?

Thanks

Appears to be a 4 point teaser, rather than a parlay. A teaser is where you move the line by a certain, fixed number of points for multiple games.

I don't follow, so if I pick UNC, I can pick the amount of points I want?

The line is SC -3 and was moved 4 points (to SC +1 and UNC +7). All the rest of the bets in the teaser have the line moved by the same amount. So, for instance, you could move Ohio State from -14 to -10 or Virginia Tech from +14 to +18.

As to whether you can pick how many points you move the line, I don't know. Depends on your track. Online you can do just about whatever you want as far as line movement and number of teams, which of course determines the payout amount.
