How come FIU coach, former LSU assistant, Turtle Thomas and Miami coach not on speaking terms.

quote:

If Miami was going to sleepwalk through a regional opener against an overmatched opponent, the bracket pairing took care of that chance. Facing intra-city rival FIU, the Hurricanes had all of the motivation they needed and got the win. The two head coaches, UM’s Jim Morris and FIU’s Turtle Thomas, are not on speaking terms and the teams have not scheduled a game since Thomas took over the Panther program. Thomas was a Miami assistant and left the team during the CWS. After a stint as an assistant at LSU, he got the head coaching job at FIU. This season has not gone as expected however, as any felt his club would be one of the best teams in Conference USA. Instead, they finished eighth in the league but then rallied to win the conference tournament.

Mike Martin and Morris didn't talk for years either. That was because UM was using walkie talkies to steal signals.

Morris is very sleazy

It's the way they did it that pissed him off.

Here's the link.... Martin and Morris finally patched things up a couple years ago.

Following the game, Martin confirmed that Arizona State coach Pat Murphy and Georgia Tech coach Danny Hall had expressed concerns about the Hurricanes using technology to steal signs. He said the practice was confirmed to him by former Miami assistants Turtle Thomas and Lazer Collazo.

Want that to stop, give the sign for a curve and throw a fastball high and tight.
