the Super Bowl halftime show hasn't exactly been great lately.

Well of course most aren't great. It's hard enough for a band to put on a great show in a festival format b/c of all the time restrictions you have to deal with. Killing it during halftime of a football game where you are essentially forced to play a medley of songs has got to be tough as all get out.

It doesn't help that a huge chunk of the show is stuff on the field that the TV networks seem incapable of filming correctly for good a viewing experience.

It's no coincidence though that the shows that have been successful have been the ones with multi-generational, mass appeal. And artists who thrive in that kind of setting.

That and the multiple years of "family friendly" shite after Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson have killed it.

So, a lot of planning has to go into a halftime performance, probably at least a couple months worth. Do you think there was a back-up plan if it was say Philly v. Pittsburgh in the superbowl or similar cities?

Apparently, the Beyonce created some divots on the field during the halftime show.

Grounds crew had to work frantically to fix them

I don't get the appeal of Beyonce' with her thunder thighs and awful singing. Every time I see her its doing the same crappy routines. She looks like a skank.

The Fray would have been better than Coldplay. And less rainbows.

How is the halftime show affected by the teams playing in the SB?

The most entertaining thing about the Super Bowl halftime show lately is watching the illuminati conspiracy videos on YouTube afterwards. Otherwise, they suck. The NFL have had Metallica or Green Day. Both bands are from the Bay Area and would have wanted to put on a great show to represent their hometown. I guess Bruno Mars, Beyoncé, and Coldplay is what you get when a woman is in charge of the halftime entertainment.

it was perfectly enjoyable. I think some of you are just offended by any popular black musician, seriously. Maybe Toby Keith can do some flag waving bull shite next year

I'm the most snobby music fan around here and I thought the half time show was great, especially whoever directed it
