Mike Ditka's time on ESPN's flagship NFL program appears to be over. The Big Lead is reporting the Hall of Fame tight end and Super Bowl-winning coach has been removed from the cast of "Sunday NFL Countdown" and will be replaced by free-agent quarterback Matt Hasselbeck.

Lot of old guys being shown the door over at ESPN.

Didn't he blast Obama recently?

Someone joked that he'd be gone and I was like nah.... Sure enough.

Probably didn't like that he kept laying down rank farts on set.

On a serious note, Hasselback is a great choice. Dude has been around football for a long time and should be able to talk about history and the current state of the sport with a lot of experience.

He's been doing that for years. The fact that all he brings now is untimely farts was a bigger problem.

Odds are nearly 100% that he was let go purely b/c Hasselbeck will be on a cheaper contract.

ESPN is still in major cost cutting mode.

Yeah, 2 days ago Ditka said that he's supporting Trump because he's a leader and that Obama is the worst President ever.

Then bam, he's fired 2 days after those comments.

ditka was just a famous name that didn't bring much besides cliches to the table as an analyst

Matt passing up his brother already on the ESPN pecking order though

In my eyes, the older I got and the more I heard Ditka talk the less respect I had for him as a coach. I now believe the 86 Bears was all Buddy Ryan.

He was atrocious anyway. Hasselbeck will be solid.
