This has to be the dumbest thing that I have ever seen.

For example, in the "Gamechanger" category, the nominees include Jesse Owens and Billy Jean King. Who the hell would ever vote Billy Jean King?

Also, Lebron James is not even in the competition, which just adds to how terrible this debate is.

Didn't they already crown the "Greatest Athlete" about 5 years ago with a 50 part mini-series?

GTFO. Top 10... sure. But no way he belongs in the greatest discussion.

I mean, I don't see why the most decorated Olympic athlete in history wouldn't have a dog in this fight.

Because people define "athlete" objectively, usually using a skill set that involves speed, strength and jumping.

What definition of athlete are we working with here?

Measurables?
Plays multiple sports at a high level?
Simply plays any sport at a high level?

Why, because he was good at football and baseball? Herschel was good at football (better than bo, actually), was an olympic bobsledder, is a 7th degree black belt, and is unbeaten in his MMA career.

That's on top of him still doing 2500 sit ups and 1500 pushups a day.
