Does anyone have any links that show Olynyk being a dirty player?

You really don't remember Love missing the playoffs due to this?

How does spacing help him on D? He excels on D. He's not really known as a guy who can score a lot. Klay is a good defender but Steph...meh.

I didn't say he wasn't a great defender. But a team with him as your best player is probably one of the five worst teams in the league. How many other all-stars are we saying that about?

There are multiple players that aren't all-stars that are better than he is. His status is elevated significantly on the GSW.

One would think that as much money as Draymond makes, he could afford some mirrors in his home?

When you mean best player do you mean best all around player or are you really trying to say best offensive player?

Because if Draymond is your #1 scoring threat, then you'd be fricked, but no one really praises him for that. He's solid scorer, with good ball handling, and elite defense.

You put Dray and IT on the same team and I'd say Dray is the best player on the team, but that team (assuming competent bench and role players) is a middle of the pack team at worst. Not bottom 5.

You're mistake is assuming that Dray being the best player on the team also means he has to be the go to scoring threat.

ETA: going off my pairing of IT and Dray...replace Al Horford with Draymond Green and the Celtics are a better version of themselves and I'd say that Draymond is a better player than anyone on the Celtics right now.

Agree with all of this.

Granted, if he's your best player, you're not going to win much, but you are also not necessarily going to be bottom 5.

He's been in the league for four years and one debatably dirty play is all we can come up with?

His game is to be a stopper on D. He's really good at that. He's not the type of player that will carry a team on the offensive end. Unless it's assists. He can dish some dimes. There is a reason they run so much action through him.

A. I really don't feel like digging into finding other dirty plays.

B. You said any links, as if there would be none out there

C. I don't see how you can watch that play and say it's debatable.

ETA:

I'll backtrack on my point A. because this was relatively easy to find:

Apparently he's a big fan of arm bars that'll dislocate your shoulder.

It's dirty if Kelly's intent right there is to injure Love. There is most definitely an argument to be made Olynyk is trying to grab Loves arm to both hold him back from the ball and use it to launch himself forward. It's a dangerous play sure, but to call it dirty insinuates Oylnkys prime motavation is to cause injury.

I asked for some evidence to back up Kelly being a dirty player which seemed to be the consensus amoungst the first couple replies. If after four years, one boarder line play is the first and only thing that comes to mind, the bar for labeling dirty players is pretty low.

I don't really agree with that.

If you're doing something you know is potentially dangerous to a player and you know it's against the rules, you could argue it and say he still did it to get to the ball before Love, not to injure Love. It still makes him a dirty player either way. Obviously the intent to injure is much worse, but you're still a dirty player if you're doing things that can hurt others, even if your motive is just to win, do better, get that loose ball whatever.

This is some grade-A bull shite only Kelly's relatives would type out. Give me a freaking break with this.

Is it more or less bullshite than boiling down a players entire career to one play and judging that player based on it?

Oh come off it! If you had ever watched the NBA, namely the Celtics, you would know he is a douche, dirty player, little bitch, etc...

it's not one play! Please watch the next Celtics game before you defend this dumb frick. It's really not a good look going to bat for him.

I've watched nearly every single Celtic game this year. Of course I'm biased, being a fan of the team, but the Kelly Olynkyk is dirty narrative is so overblown.

Chill out. This is exactly the type of hype this narrative has reached. People act like Kelly is Bill Laimbeer.

A. I mean, I've already provided two examples of him arm barring another player in a non-basketball related way.

B. I'm sure he's gotten the reputation due to various smaller things that you won't really be able to find gifs of, like dirty screens and the like.

C. Once again, I never said I was boiling down his career to one play, you insinuated there was nothing dirty out there on him, I provided the Love play.

D. Nothing can be more bullshite than saying that play on Love was not dirty. And it's laughable to say he was trying to "propel himself forward"

If you replaced IT with Draymond Green would the Celtics have more wins or less wins?

Don't change anything else, obviously.
