I think a lot of people assumed he'd leave Clemson when Saban left town but now I'm not so sure.

Agreed. He can be the Bear Bryant of Clemson or try and follow Saban. Seems like an easy decision but who knows

There isn't good reason for him to leave Clemson. He's worshipped there, and who wants to follow Saban?

Yeah his leash at Clemson is now incredibly long.

It's like breaking up with a girlfriend, and dating a new one for 8 years, and then going back to the old one as soon as she's available again. It doesn't really make sense.

Saban isn't done any time soon. Dabo has built up a love for Clemson that will only get stronger by the time Saban retires.

He is only getting fired from Clemson if he is found in bed with a dead girl or a live boy

He hasn't had a leash since year 2. Dude has been tearing it up there for quite some time.

He will be Alabama's next coach. All tonight did was further cement that. We probably won't even interview anyone else at this point.

He's called Clemson his Alabama, he has no desire to ever leave I don't think.

I know a lot of coaches say stuff like that and in comes huge money offer and they leave, I don't see that from Dabo though.

Based on what?

He's going to leave a program he's literally taken to the top of the mountain to follow Nick Saban and all that doing so entails?

Not seeing it, alum or not.

He's going to be cemented much like Stoops in Norman, OK. Dabo will never pay for a meal or a drink in Clemson ever again. He will get a new contract with some earned dollars. No reason to head to T(railer)-Town.

Great comparison.

You guys should see the castle Stoops just completed here. It's unreal.

Follow Saban?

I can't see him doing that.

It's been a running assumption by Bama fans for awhile now. And others.

I'm not saying he ever leaves Clemson for Bama, but once you reach the top, expectations are never the same. 10 win seasons will never be good enough again. Multiple years without playoff appearances won't be acceptable.

Next season is the only "grace period" he gets

That would just be the competitive spirit in Dabo. It'll be allowed.

I couldn't help but notice that one of the first things Dabo did in his teary eyed post game interview was talk about how he loved the University of Alabama.

I don't know how you can just write off him being an alum. Basically the ultimate goal for all coaches is to coach your alma mater to a championship.

I never thought he'd go there even before winning last night. There's just no real reason to. I know people have a special fondness for their alma mater, but Dabos now been at Clemson twice as long as he was at Bama. I'm sure he's developed a genuine love for that university as well. Following Saban's shadow just doesn't seem very appealing. He may listen to some ridiculous $100 million/10 year deal, but I think that's what it'd take.
