I know I don't. I look at these guys as modern day gladiators out there for my amusement. The are over grown and fast. If they are too dumb to realize that running full speed and ramming themselves into another might be bad for them then oh well.

My head hurts, my knees hurt, my shoulders, my back- says all retire football players. No shite really?!?!!

If they don't like it, don't play or petition your Union to make the game two hand touch, although viewership may shrink to nothing.

Otherwise, I say keep on hitting and getting up while I watch from the stands or my couch.

Yeah, kind of. I don't want guys to have these prolonged problems once their very brief NFL careers are over.

about CTE
Why wouldn't a person care (at least a little bit) about serious, detrimental risks and implications of a sport that we love?

And although it's more likely to impact NFL players, the risk is not absent at other levels, and many of us either played the sport or had others close to use who did.

Imagine how many yards Newton will gain once nobody is allowed to touch him.

Don't want to see anyone get hurt, but they know the risks and are well compensated.

I mean there should be rules that punish clearly flagrant dangerous plays, but there are risks that come with playing football that I think everyone down to middle school football realizes. There is a middle ground between a free for all bloodbath and the sarcastaball that Goodell is trending the league towards.

It's not a black and white, yes or no answer.

On the one hand, it sucks and I wouldn't want anybody to go through that.

On the other hand, in this day and age, guys know all the adverse effects playing football can have on your body long-term, and they still CHOOSE to play. Because to them the compensation and rewards are greater than the risks. If they make the decision to put their body in harm's way for the fame and pay-out, that's on them. Nobody is forcing them to play. I understand for a good number of these guys the NFL is the only out for them, the only way to make something of themselves and provide for themselves and their family. But that's just comes with the territory. There's pros and cons, and trade-offs to every choice and major decision made.

So yes I care about it, because it's peoples actual health we're talking about. But No, i don't care about it as it pertains to the NFL. Risk of doing the job.

It doesn't matter whether or not we, the fans, give a shite about CTE. It's whether these guys are fully aware of the risks they are taking considering the research they have. As long as these players are educated of the risks and are understanding of what it can possibly mean in regards to their health, then I'm cool with it. Same as smoking...you know the risks involved so don't sue when you're dying of heart disease or cancer.

If the sport doesn't solve this issue, it will be a niche sport at best in about 20 or so years. Maybe less.

It's all about assumption of risk. I feel for the guys, and their family members, who got into the game without knowledge of how they would end up. It's not intuitive like it is with, say, boxing.

I'm cool with players assuming the risk now that the knowledge is out there. They are rational actors.

My thoughts exactly.

NFL needs to do a better job with the equipment, but if they continue to change the rules then guys like Cam, Wilson, etc will kill this game anyway.

If you aren't allowed to hit a QB, then these guys will run wild.

I get this approach, but there is a rapid decline in youth participation in the sport which will lead to an overall decline in the sport if the trend away from participation continues.

I'm less concerned with grown men making informed risk analysis and think the biggest risk CTE presents is driving youth from the sport.

I think that as long as there is a focus to resolve the issue, there will be rules changes and improved equipment that resolves it. Too much money invested not to figure it out.

Look at how important WR's have become, now that nobody is allowed to even breathe on them.

They keep saying that the passing game took over the League because it became more sophisticated. That's bullshite. It took over because every rule change has been designed to favor the passing game.
