Or is Mississippi State just having a down year?

The man has Nick Fitzgerald as the highest rushing QB in school history. I think he's a good coach

But seriously I think Mullen is a good coach, it's just hard to recruit against some of the other schools even in their own division.

His teams finished with a winning record in all but his first year. At Mississippi State.

That program had not had a streak of winning seasons like that since the 40s.

I would have taken Dan Mullen over coach O at LSU in a heartbeat. He was my #3 behind Fisher and Herman

If Dak had chosen LSU , he wouldn't be in the NFL, so I'll say no.

The Saban and Meyers of the world are really fricking it up for other coaches in the country.
This shouldn't even be a question, Mullen is a good coach

I'd say he's good. He has good offensive coaching chops at least, Nick Fitzgerald started to get better under him in the second half of their season.

Their defense was garbage though.

Mullen 19 games above .500, Miss State overall has a losing record.

Mullen has been doing it against Bama, LSU, and Auburn. Those three schools have combined to make 6 appearances in the national title game, with this year pending, in the 7 years Mullen has been in Starksville.

Down year with a new qb. But it is Mississippi State. They sucked big-time before Hunchback arrived.
