@DPLennon - Manfred also said NL adopting DH is gaining momentum. Expect it to be addressed in upcoming CBA, so could be for '17 season. #mlb

@DPLennon - As for DH, eventually MLB was going to go DH route, with more interleague play & concern over pitchers health. Sure union will be on board.

I've never understood why one league had it and the other one didn't.

When you stop to think about it, the fact that 1 league had DH and the other didn't is fricking crazy.

I can't think of any sport were 2 conferences, and that's what they are, have 2 fundamnetally different sets of rules

Good. The pitcher batting can make for some interesting strategic situations, but no one needs to watch a pitcher helplessly flail at three pitches.

Does this mean Edgar Martinez can get the votes for the hall now?

This was logical when pitchers were playing every single day at multiple positions. The sport is too specialized now, just like football. Quarterbacks aren't playing safety any more.

Plus, the league wants more offense. This is the easiest way to do this.

The only time I enjoy watching the pitcher hit is when they really embarrass themselves at the plate and I get a laugh out of it.

Think this is the opinion of most fans. I've never understood how you can allow an advantage like the DH to impact free agency, especially with pitchers.

23 World Series wins since the creation of the DH.

Actual record is 23-19 so it's really not that big of a deal. I'm glad they're going to the same rules, not surprised they chose universal DH. But my preference would be no DH.

Fans of NL teams will bitch and fans of AL teams will say finally.

Personally I used to hate the DH, but ever since the Astros joined the AL I actually have grown to like it.
