Sources: Conference USA is expected to add Delaware as a new member for the 2025-26 season. The sides have been in talks and a decision is expected to be formalized in the upcoming days.

Delaware has a rich history in college athletics. Joe Biden once one the Heisman, Golden Spikes Award, and the Naismith all in the same year.

Even more impressive was he did it while finishing his undergraduate degree with a 4.0 before heading off to Vietnam where he was awarded the Medal of Honor for his service.

Ppl said the same thing about the Sun Belt when it added schools like Georgia State, Georgia Southern, and Coastal Carolina with their butt ugly teal turf.

WKU and MTSU choosing CUSA over the MAC kept CUSA alive. FIU, UTEP, and La Tech didn’t really have any options at the time.

and they were probably correct. Where the belt was when tech had the potential to jump ship was undoubtedly better than what theyre looking at now. (who knows maybe the belt wouldnt have invited them i dont know but it would have been worth the try)

Maybe LaTech is part of the problem. There’s a reason why they were stuck in CUSA in 2021 and one of the last ones to get out of the WAC.

Two Blue Hen QBs have started a Superbowl (one won, the other’s team lost). Can you name them?

That’s a decent get for the conference. About as good as they’ll get.

still feels like Sun Belt East will eventually split off and invite Liberty, Delaware, and WKU/MTSU

The only time LTU had a legitimate opportunity to join was when Football was originally added prior to 2001. Tech chose the WAC and while they have had some success have always just missed the boat ride when market or school size come into play. LTU to the Belt should have happened along with adding Liberty two years ago, but the offer has not been extended from what I understand from parties on both sides of that table.

My hint, thanks to some info from Wiki… The other lost to his former coach in what is sometimes referred to as the Pirate Bowl. The Dixie Chicks performed the National Anthem and the halftime show consisted of Shania Twain, No Doubt and Sting.

Never mind, I see the other answer was mentioned. Yes to Flacco and Gannon.

Conference affiliation is the least of Louisiana Tech’s problems

I wonder if this means UMass and UConn might join as football only members in a pod w/Delaware?

Tarleton is the favorite I think. People will laugh but their enrollment is exploding and Texas A&M is dumping tons of money into their athletic program.

Not too surprising they want to move up. They were part of the original WAC plan to have all those schools move up at once.

I heard Delaware only finalized the decision after confirming that Coach Cumbie had a chance of sticking around until 2025.
