Sad day when Astro fans do backflips over signing a 40yr old.
To top it off, it was all Hinchs idea

Bitch should've resigned in 2005.

Obviously its fine to temper beltran expectations, but we didn't overpay him or anything, colby rasmus money basically just went to carlos. That is a steal in itself. Rasmus was trash, marisnick was trash, tyler white was trash, aj reed was trash, castro was trash, preston tucker was trash
we just literally got rid of all that in our everyday lineup and added
brian mccann
carlos beltran
the cuban babe ruth
Id say the improvement is significant.
As for Beltran and his decline, he's not a power hitter and his sweet swing isn't in decline, as I mentioned he just hit .300 and drove in almost 100 runs at 39. He's averaged 24 homers a year the last 5 years over the age of 35. Albert Pujols once the most dominant htiter in the game just hit 31 homers last year at 36, beltran hit 29. So its safe to say beltran is fine
Rasmus hit .206 last year
Marisnick hit .209 last year
Beltran hit .295 last year
whats there not to be jumping up and down about again?

Dave Hudgens is still the batting coach

2 wrongs making a right eh?

The batting coach you believe has that much of an effect on professional hitters? You really believe that? The greatest hitter of all time Barry bonds did nothing for the Marlins last year. We finally have a talented lineup 1-9 and you're complaining about the batting coach? Lol good god

I'm hearing Encarnacion didn't want to play for Hudgens. Wants no part of Hunch ball

Miami was 4th in batting average last year. Keep spinning it Van Jones.

And yet they didn't bring bonds back? Do you honestly believe there is that much coaching left to do when you have elite hitters like altuve, correa,Bergman?
Posted on 12/3/16 at 1:49 pm to List Eater
Texas gave up those prospects for him just to lose in the division series. The stros get him for nothing! Who's the one laughing now? I wish this season was starting now. I can't wait!

Beltran played with manager Hinch and bench coach Alex Cora.
Correa was 3 years old when Beltran made his debut. I'd imagine this is a big deal for Correa though. A Puerto Rican he probably grew up idolizing.

Is this the Astros Ticket Exchange?
I need two tix to Astros vs Marineros on Apr 3.
Club tix preferably.

The one the rangers gave up their first 1st round pick for?

Somethings only worth what one is willing to pay. I'm fine with then wiping out their farm. You wouldn't have taken that deal?

@ Ryno and List melting.
You two are bigger bums than Carlos Gomez

I don't agree with Prom much but I do this time.
It's still early in this offseason and, at this point, there is no reason in the world not to be excited as all hell

This was a leverage move, and one that you have to LOVE as an Astros fan.
I'm no Hinch fan by any means, but if this was a move he made, he deserves credit here.
I expect Beltran to DH and stay healthy. Don't want him covering anything but LF sparingly, and he would be an exception to the rule on running everything out. We don't need infield hits from him, just his bat in the lineup.
His presence does not exclude an EE deal, but keeps demands in check, and his added offense also frees up some options on the trade for starting pitching front.
