Would you rather Wallace?

This dude is a good club house guy to have around and is light years better player than Wallace. Gold Glove calibar first baseman.

If we were gonna sign a guy who strikes out a ton and struggles to hit .200, I would have preferred they signed mark Reynolds who was available. He at least still had power. At 35 Penas power has been on the decline.

You will like having Carlos Pena on the team. Hes great guy to have in the club house and is very well liked and respected. Always plays the game the right way.

Pena might strike out a lot but he actually does get on base an awful lot. He has a fantastic eye at the plate and gets a bunch of walks.

At 2.9, that's not a terrible deal. He'll hit 20 bombs and play good defense. It's not a terrible stop gap until Singleton is ready.

They get rid of one terrible Carlos and pick up another who may be even worse

Why are you complaining? That's a great deal for a guy who will be your best power hitter

I like the contract. Would have preferred them to try and get Reynolds for that DH/1B spot though.

My first thought when seeing the signing was that the TD crowd would be delighted Lee was coming back. My bad, wrong Carlos.

This is exactly what they need. Small cheap contracts. They can't let this team continue to go to shite, they need to field a team that can at least win 70+ games.

I think I'm the only one who thinks 2.9 mill is way to much for a guy to be our DH who hit .197 last year w/ 98 hits in 160 games. Also a career .230 hitter and last 4 years were awful.

You don't even have to reach the Mendoza Line these days and they throw 3 mill at you.

And I can care less if he's a good clubhouse guy. That's garbage. I'd rather have a .300 hitter who never spoke to teammates.

It's a 1 year, $3M contract. What's the problem?

He's a poor hitter, but using average, you're not accounting for his walks. Stupid.
