DAT: A Day for Reflection

The Astros improved to 29-12, the best 41-game start in club history and three games ahead of the 2015 team's pace. Their .707 winning percentage is the best in the major leagues, well ahead of the Washington Nationals' .658 mark.
And the victory nudged their run differential to +61, also best in the major leagues

Springers 24 RBI are tops among leadoff batters in the American League.

Batting average is currently holding at .273, which is good enough for 2nd in the majors and 1st in the AL.
Hit some free time at the office so went thru a bookmarked thread.

I don't care what kind of bullshite they've sold you, the owners are pocketing the revenue sharing money at a rate never before seen while claiming they are just "rebuilding", plain and simple.
Maybe that will change in the future, maybe it won't. But don't give me this 10 year plan nonsense when you have no idea how many (if any) of these draftees will pan out. They are gaming the system at baseball and the fanbase's expense and have done such a good job of it that they have actually managed to convince the few Astros fans that still exist that it is somehow a good thing that they are fielding one of the worst teams of all time. It's impressive, really.

And what happens when it's time to pay the ones that actually turn out to be productive major leaguers? Odds are they will trade or not resign them, because that's what owners who sell this kind of bullshite to their fans do. If you want to see what new owners who actually want to win do, check out what Mark Anastasio did with the Brewers. He actually spent money and guess what, the team became a lot more competitive immediately and the farm system wasn't hurt by it.

they drafted every year. a coupla years they had trouble signing some guys due to low bonus' they offered. the known problems with the astros go way, way deeper than draft mistakes. and there very well may be additional problems with their new ownership group. they have managed to alienate a very large percentage of their fans and ex-players and the local media. somehow they convinced many corporate ticket holders to hang with 'em but many, many of the regular fans are gone or in the process of leaving. it would take several pages to summarize their problems but the best way to describe it is to visualize a well run franchise and understand the astros are the anti of that.

the Astros are a cheap franchise and always have been. and they spend money on stupid shite; like beltran, who will be 40, will get 16 million. hell, why won't they spend the money on a young guy with future potential?
they act, and they always have, like a small market franchise. Houston is the 4the largest market in the country and management of the Astros act like it's Oakland or KC.
at least they used to have pitchers, now, pitchers are just not something they spend money on. imagine a winning club w/o pitching. it just doesn't happen does it.
I know it is really early in the season but goddamn this is fun.

I just hope Drac opens this thread. The most delicious part of that is the Brewers front office is now run by the Astros former assistant GM

Took a St.Louis man to buy the team, and a Former Cardinal Front Office guy to get you to where you are at. Congrats?

Thanks! We'll add Cardinals draft picks into our success thanks to a man ironically named Correa.

Trevor Bauer awaits. Perhaps some unorthodox DATing is required.

I'm not naming any names... but, if I had to guess, I would say that AstroBaw is not against it.

Imagine if they still had Weaver. It would be an Ultimate Frisbee rotation.
