Cohen was reckless

He's now sitting at the all you can eat buffet

Dana is along for the ride to do the paperwork. He has zero power outside the draft.

My sources have told me from the beginning he was hired to run the minor leagues and draft and give input into MLB roster.

I'm actually enjoying the process these last few hours, b/c I think we're in a win/win situation

We really have no history of being reckless

We get him relatively cheaply, or we stand pat with Urquidy and Brantley filling our needs

Pretty much go big or not at all, if price for JV isn't favorable

Of course we could still pick up a relief arm in addition to Graveman, using only a marginal roster guy

I'd be shocked if they didn't. They have to be done with Montero and Stanek.

White Sox are taking more serious offers for Dylan Cease. No sure thing he moves, but at least considering it now. Kenyan Middleton almost certain to be moved by the White Sox, who are listening on Tim Anderson too.

Cease is prime for an Orioles Dbacks or Reds with a surplus of young talent at the beginning of a contention window to go for. Similar to us and Cole in the winter after the first title. I’d love to get him but it’s unlikely we can be competitive in an offer for him

We could submit a winning offer but it would hurt too much. Having Gilbert and France in it, for starters.

The Astros are still viewed as the favorites to land Justin Verlander from the Mets, per source, but the two sides need to agree to the players who would go back to New York.

I'll be relieved if JV goes anywhere but Hou.

HOU prospect Midseason ranks for us since everyone keeps saying THEY HAVE NO TOP 100 GUYS!!!!

Drew Gilbert: No. 36
Zach Dezenzo: No. 42
Ryan Clifford: ~80s
Spencer Arrighetti and Luis Baez: long list so prob ~100-150, but both rising fast

It's been my impression that the baseball journalism community is still bitter about the Astros beating the Dodgers and Yankees...so they downplay their organization every chance they get.

And don't think Cohen has learned any lessons either. He's just trying to clear money (yes, while getting some decent prospects) so that he can throw 11ty billion dollars at Ohtani.

Let’s go the Pirates starter route like we did with Cole and get Mitch Keller

Would rather a lh starter/bp guy over Verlander. We're too predictable on the mound.

Well, the cold hard truth is that if JV had the value he has been contractually obligated to, he would be gone already, like Scherzer

Sorry Wahoo..: your logic doesn’t stand up to scrutiny considering how much money Mets are paying for Scherzer to play for Arlington.

Verlander’s value his greater than Max’s at this point. That’s why Max went first, he was the cheaper get.
