Was looking at my bookmark threads. Found this gem.

Anyone want to guess who said this (no cheating):

quote:

... the draw for me was watching some younger players develop. We have a few guys up now who can stick and be good: Castro, dominguez, Cosart, Obie, Villar, Grossman, all fun to watch. Altuve is a good stop gap player. With the wave of studs coming up in the next two years we will be built for long term winning at the ML level starting in 2016

Anyway... this isn't meant to sling mud. We all have some questionable comments/predictions in our post history - especially me (I once thought DDS would pass Altuve on the depth charts). But I find myself asking, "what things have I posted this week that will turn out to be somewhat humorous/dumb/etc.?"

Looks like that's from before my time on the DAT, but I will admit I defended Dominguez a lot last year

LINK to Correa homer from last night

dude, did you even read what I posted? I know I've got some crazy shite in my history. LE brings up my post about DDS passing Altuve all the time.

It really wasn't meant to be a slam at you. I was merely trying to point out that we've all made some pretty crazy predictions. I'm wondering what predictions about this team will eventually be considered in the "DDS will surpass Altuve" and "Altuve is a stop gap." category?

shite, I posted that Carter will end up no lower than 3rd in MVP votes after this year. Peacock would come back from injury and win 16 games. WTF was I thinking?

In my defense, Villar was pretty exciting his first couple of weeks in the big leagues…dominguez hadn't proven how badly he would suck yet…Grossman went on a pretty big tear for a while. Altuve hadn't done anything incredible yet….all plausible albeit optimistic and ultimately bad predictions

Exactly my point. I agree -- looking at your statements at the time, nothing was out of line.

I definitely doubted Altuve before last year, but his 2013 was pretty unspectacular honestly. His progression as a hitter has been awesome to watch. I also thought Keuchel was a mid rotation guy and feel dumb for that also

I thought Keuchel would become a nice #3 kind of guy because of his makeup and his knowledge of pitching. Nobody saw him becoming Tom Glavine.

So is this team for real or was that streak a fluke?

Can it be a bit of both?

We had every break go our way for ten games then the ball doesn't drop for two nights so we suck again?

Baseball is a long season for a reason
