Mike Fiers has allowed 24 fly balls this season. 12 of those have left the yard.
So the burning question is this...does FIers get enough innings to break Blyleven's MLB record for homers allowed in a seson (50) and Lima Time's Astro and NL record of 48? He is on a pace to give up about tree fiddy right now...
Hopefully Fiers has eased his way into a long relief role before this becomes a factor...

If that happens, our season is going up in flames. So, no.

I'll offer Fiers a minor defense. 2 of the homers were Minute Maid assisted. The DeShields homer scraped the foul pole. It's well foul at most parks. Gallo hit a pop up to left that ended up 2 rows into the boxes. Those were MMP homers. The other 2 were bombs.

The Gallo homer was a cheap MMP one. The DDJ one was still a classic Fiers meatball that was crushed, luck or not.

I don't think that you put a guy in long relief who struggles most in his first innings pitched. Fiers in long relief =

That's what is scary. We aren't even close to playing up to our capabilities. If we play at our best, the league is screwed. This team does seem to play perfect baseball from the 5th or 6th inning on, so I'll take that.

From what I read the Pirates may be ready to have a "quick rebuild" and would be looking for some MLB ready guys rather than long term prospects.
Maybe they bite at a Martes+Reed+1 more upper level type package?

Also for you Quintana fans out there, he had an amazing start last night. Is he back?

Last night, List Eater mentioned something about trade winds blowing. I'm curious to hear those rumors, especially if they involve Fiers.

Archer ervin and Cole are the ones I would go for.

Well, where do you put him then?
According to the above numbers, he struggles with batters who lead off an inning. Maybe you bring him in with one out in an inning???

He needs to pitch well against a team not named the royals before I declare he's back

Against the Royals though. That's like bowling with the bumpers up.

That is just wrong...
Fiers seems like a good dude and means well...can't just put him in the dumpster!

Even the Rangers swept the Royals. You're expected as an ace to demolish the wanna-be's, has-been's, and never-were's of the league (translated: Rangers and Royals).

That's fair. The pitchers I'd really like to trade for are Ervin Santana, Gerrit Cole, and Archer. Not sure how Teheran is pitching this year, but I wouldn't mind trading for him either.

MLB ready prospects: Martes, P.Tucker, Fisher, Moran, Hernandez and Reed.
We offering 4 of the above and a youngster for an Ace?

Adding the youngster is a little much
ETA: Im not a big believer in Martes, Big Tucker will never play a big role with us, Fisher and Hernandez are nice players but Springer is still under control for a few more years, Reddick has 2 more years and we can fill that last spot until Baby Tuck is ready. Moran will never play with us. I still think Reed is the jewel and when he gets his next shot he will produce. However Im fine with letting him go, gotta give some to get.
However I could part with any of the above if it meant getting an ace WITH some control ie Cole.
I mean how would you feel about the rest of the season with the rotation being:
Keuchel, Cole, McCullers, Morton, Musgrove or McHugh (FTR I like McHugh bu think McHugh is done and will never pitch another MLB game)
