What the frick Hinch? Castro was in the on deck circle to pinch hit....meaning either Castro comes into the game as catcher or we burn our 2nd catcher. So why the frick wouldn't castro pinch hit for shitty Conger?

ETA: Castro was going to PH for Marisnick...meaning Ris would come out of the game and we'd need a new CF....like the left hand hitting Colby Rasmus sitting on the bench. Total WTF.

I mean why on earth would Castro be on deck to hit for Marisnick there with Conger batting? Rasmus and Castro should have been hitting for those two in some order, and Rasmus should've actually hit for Marisnick in the previous at bat.

Oh shite, I didn't realize Castro was on deck. He should've been pinch hitting for Conger.

Right? It doesn't make any sense. Hinch was essentially going to burn 2 players if we did make a comeback. Marisnick was gone, Castro isn't going in the OF so he's gone unless he replaces Conger (so why not pinch hit him for Conger) and then Rasmus has to come in to replace Marisnick in the OF.

The only thing I could see is that he did not want Castro behind the plate at all tonight and he wanted Castro's bat at the plate instead of Rasmus.

That's the only thing I can see.

Just leaving this here.

Dominguez 2014: .264/.322/.447 7HR 19RBI 13BB 32SO

Valbuena 2015: .192/.255/.401 10HR 16RBI 13BB 40SO

I thought it would be hard for someone to actually be worse than Matty D. Enter Valbuena.

That's fine, but why not just hit Castro for Conger then Rasmus for Marisnick? It shouldn't be a Castro vs Rasmus debate when you need three runs. They both should have been used.

The only thing I can figure is he was thinking he had to have a big inning at that point so he thought Conger could get on base and Rasmus could be used even later once the inning was extended. But which right hander do you replace...Springer? no, Altuve? no, Gattis?, no.

It just doesn't make any sense. It was a long shot anyway with such a big hole but stuff like that pisses me off.

Well what I was trying to say was maybe Hinch was trying to give Castro a complete day off behind the plate. If he pinch hits both and then we rally, he's now forced to use Castro defensively.

I hate valbuena and everything he stands for. I had his bat flips on warning track flies. I hate his whiff in and arguing every strike call against him.
