DAT 4/8: Royals (Duffy) vs Astros (Keuchel) 6:10 ct

Saturday's matchup between the Astros and Royals features a pair of left-handed aces who pitched well in their first start of the season -- Houston's Dallas Keuchel and Kansas City's Danny Duffy.
Keuchel threw seven scoreless innings in a win over the Mariners on Opening Day on Monday. Duffy allowed one run over six innings, striking out eight, against the Twins on Opening Day, but he was disappointed with his three walks.
"I just need to be more efficient," Duffy said. "I could have gone one more inning if I'd been more efficient with my pitch count."
Three things to know about this game:
• Duffy is the fourth consecutive left-hander the Astros will face. Houston went 28-26 against lefties last season.
• Of Houston's Marwin Gonzalez's 39 career home runs, 35 have been solo shots. Gonzalez is becoming one of the AL's top utility players.
• The Royals have 10 players on their current 25-man roster who were not with the big league club when the 2016 season began.

Basically, anything with an arm is kryptonite right now.

Duffy is one of my favorite non Astro players to watch. Has electric stuff when he's on.
BUT, we found a way to beat Felix, Iwakuma, and Paxton while struggling offensively so no reason we can't do it tonight

Call me crazy but outside of altuve and Yuli the offense is on the brink. George has obviously been fantastic. Marwin as well. Bregman looked better and more composed yesterday. Gattis has been decent. Reddick has been decent. Aoki has been a pleasent surprise. Correa has been mediocre but mediocre is a hell of a lot better than altuve. Beltran is slow as molasses and while most of his hits have been weak contact at the vast majority are due to bat manipulation and hit placement against shifts. I think the signing will payoff in due time when the top of the lineup starts stringing some hits together.

it will come together as soon as altuve starts hitting

Might need to request the help of Jobu today

Honestly, outside of maybe Cleveland, the whole league is down as far as offense goes. Houston isn't immune, I guess. We aren't the only frustrated fans around the league.
Lots of bad numbers everywhere right now.

Yeah, I have to remind myself often baseball is a game of failure. That's the beauty of it. If a batter fails at the plate 2/3 of the time in his career he's going to the HOF

Good chance Duffy could kick the ball to the plate tonight and get Altuve to strikeout or GIDP.

Welp, guess Fiers has more time to present a case for himself. While he didn't look particularly good last night, he had some meh defense behind him and was able to limit any major damage. If he can continue making starts like that we will be fine
If someone else gets hurt, at what point would we possibly see Martes given a chance? June? And for now just spot start Peacock or Devo?

There's a lot of different thing that could be done so I'm not sure what they'd do. Peacock, Devo, Brady Rodgers, Martes would all be options

Did some reading on this impingement issue for Jabroni. It appears therapy is about two-thirds successful without a surgery, which would lead to three months for recovery.
Therefore, if he came come back after the six weeks of therapy, great. If not, expect surgery where he likely comes back no sooner than the start of September.

...That's great AJ. Bench one of the few guys who's been getting on base for us and replace him with Jake Marisnick. 3 starts in 6 games for Jake

What would Duffy cost us compared to Quintana?
