I've always like Cole. A megadeal for him and Watson would be pricey but could put us over the top. I like Santana as well, he had an under the radar really good year last year

Cole, Santana are both intriguing options. I still think Quintana is the gem of them all, but we'll have to see if he recovers from his slow start. I'm trying to not get too attached to prospects, but I mentioned in yesterday's DAT right before this one was started that trading more than 1 of Martes, Perez, and Whitley better get us a damn good pitcher with team control.

That's why I say let's get a rental ace or number 2. Don't give up the farm. Start the package around martes and Davis. I honestly don't think as highly of martes(as a starter) as Everyone else, and Davis is sol for playing for the astros anyway because of the massive road blocks ahead of him.

Looking at past rental ace deals I think those two would get it done with maybe one filler. People would freak out about losing martes over a rental, but like I mentioned I wouldn't because I think he is a poor mans lmj.

And btw the rental trade for a pitcher would need to happen now. It would be hard to trade both those guys for two months of a pitcher,but for 5 months then I'm interested.

Not thrilled with the thought of giving up Martes for a rental. Doing that makes winning the World Series a must, a la the Cubs giving up Gleyber Torres for Chapman last year.

Sometimes you have to gamble. I would be okay trading the farm for an established ace, but for me that would have to be a homerun type trade. Meaning I wouldn't be excited to do so for an archer or Q

Another variable yet to be brought up is the draft. We can't trade players we draft this year, but we have 5 top 100 picks. It will be easier to stomach a trade once we get an influx of talent into the system mid-June.
